A fabulous Czech Christmas tree. This vintage Czech tree is perfect for any seasonal décor. A draping golden crystal chaton garland winds gracefully down the tree. Glistening dark green teardrop cabochons, peridot green navette and red chaton's form the sparkling ornaments perfectly placed in the tree. Marquise, round and teardrop cabochons. A gold chaton and emerald green marquise cabochon form the beautiful tree topper. A green rectangle tree trunk rests on an intricate and elegant round filigree stand. This little beauty will capture every ray of light in the room. A hand made Czech tree with prong set shimmering stones. A smaller accent tree for your forest...Measures 4.75 by 3 inches and is not signed. You can't have just one.......Trees belong in a forest!

For centuries, the foundries of old Czechoslovakia have been renowned for their impressive crystal, glass and jewelry craftsmanship. This crystal brooch comes directly from Jablonec, Czechoslovakia which was formerly called Gablonze before WWII. (Many of the Jewelry houses closed during the war.)

From 1925-1950s, Czech jewelry was heavily soldered, typically with copper or pot metal (a mixture of semi-precious metals). Often these pieces display maker's marks indicating the district name of the jewelry company. Sometimes the word “Czech' will appear on the back as well.

When they were made in the 1920s to the 1950s, film stars had first begun to set popular taste and their luxurious jewels were duplicated best of all by the Czechs. The nation was Bohemia prior to World War I, remember, and they had centuries of expertise in creating and setting the finest crystal gems.

The dots of solder on the reverses aren't actually repairs, but preventive strengthening measures undertaken to prevent potential damage. In 1918 the Czechs and Slovaks united. They were finally freed from the rule of Austria and Hungary. The land in which they live became the Czech Republic on January 1st, 1993. Prior to WW I, the jewelry from this area was called Bohemian and often not marked. After WW I, the jewelry was marked with Czecho, Czecho-slovakia, Czechoslovakia, Czech or Made in Czechoslovakia.
