This piece consists of reclaimed wood, a vintage postcard, a swatch of rubber material from an old pair of waders, bent rusty nails, carpet tacks, and miscellaneous antique paper and fiber elements. The rusty nails protrude from the piece; a tetanus shot is recommended before handling.

This artwork measures about 14-1/4 inches tall by about 4-3/8 inches wide. The text reads, "The breathing of the earth."

There is a hanger attached to the back.


An important note about my mixed media and assemblage pieces:
The materials with which I've chosen to make my art -- old sections of wood and different kinds of vintage papers and fibers – are organic and frequently subject to "independent" behavior as they age. Old untreated wood can shrink; antique papers can be porous or dry, fibers can degrade. Each piece I make is unique, and, depending on its components, some flexing, curling, shrinking, movement, or minor flaking or shedding may naturally occur as the artwork evolves.
