A beautiful, scarce antique edition of Athenae Cantabrigienses. good Volume 2 1586-1609. Edited by Charles Henry Cooper, and Thompson Cooper
Published in 1861 by Deighton, Bell, and Co., and Macmillan and Co., Cambridge.
Half bound with brown leather to corners and spine, red title plate to spine with gilt title. Blue textured cloth boards, deckled page edges to all sides. Sage green end papers with ex libris of John Roach and inscription to front fly page from the Town Clerk of Cambridge (Hooker). Text pages are bright and largely clear with some foxing and ageing spots to page edges. Alternating blue insert pages with handwritten notes and letters.
This special edition is a bit pulled at the spine and showing signs of cracking to hinges with boards, but otherwise in good antique condition for a large volume. Chipping and wear to leather binding, with some loose material around the spine and worn corners. Rubbing to boards. Please see pictures for more details or message if you have any questions
