Half-bound in black cloth covered boards with spine and tips in red Morocco, five raised bands and gilt decorated panels on spine, red marbled endpapers, 8vo, 446 pages, 15 color illustrations by Byam Shaw. some mild scuffing to the black cloth boards, previous owner's bookplate in front endpaper, some faint toning to pages, otherwise clean, bright and sound.

Laurence Hope was the pseudonym used by Violet Nicolson, also known as Adela Florence Nicolson. She wrote in formal verse and her work is heavily influenced by the culture, people and history of India, where she spent much of her life. She was popular during her lifetime, and some of her works were set to music.
