Handmade over the torch, I sculpted this avant garde glass wolf using Italian glass. Directly from the flame, all my work goes into a digitally controlled kiln for annealing. Once the kiln program was complete, I mounted the wolf onto a handmade wood stand.
Surrounded by locally sourced lichens, you will notice one of my lampwork flowers nestled into the mix.
The wood stand is solid Tamarack. I sealed it with urethane and used a dry brush technique on the bark, highlighting it certain areas. To preserve your furniture or table tops, felt was carefully epoxied to the base of each stand.

FYI -
Tamarack is the densest softwood in North America. It's comparable to that of hardwoods. The old timers in the Northeast say that Tamarack lasts "two years longer than stone." Tamarack trees can live 200 - 400 years.
