Berquin did not want his work to contain fairy tales or imaginative good literature. He wrote stories consisting of events that might happen to children in their everyday lives. He envisioned childhood reading as a familial exercise which is why some of his 'stories' are actually plays with parts for all family members to read. Condition Report: In a half calf binding.
