Anson Oil Derrick Rig Drilling Oil Well Silver good Tone Vintage Cuff Links | Oil Themed Cufflinks and Tie Bar | Mid Century
This set of oil themed cuff links and tie bar date from the late l950s. The marker's mark, “Anson” is the inside shaft of the cuff links with “Anson Pat. Pend” in block letters. That mark dates these pre-l960s, when this mark was replaced by a script one. Interestingly, the clip has a small script mark on it, so it's likely these were made in late l950s when the marks were being transitioned.
Anson is a mark used by Anderson, Inc, which in l945 after WWII, shifted their production to jewelry manufacturing, first men's jewelry and later they added women's. The company was founded in l938 as Anderson Tool and Die by Olof Anderson, a Swedish immigrant.
These interesting, oil themed, collectible cuff links and slide dangling clip, are made of a silver tone metal and have a good quality feel to them. The derricks have an open design, measuring 1” high and .5” wide, with the slide tie bar 2.5” long where the derrick dangles from a chain.
Overall, this unique set is in very good vintage condition, showing few signs of wear, especially given their age. There are a few light scratches to the metal and a small mark on the interior shaft of one of the cufflinks. The toggles and slide bar hold and work well. The pictures offer more perspective on the styling and vintage condition of these distinctive Anson oil cuff links set. (Note: I have a red camera and on some pictures you can see its hue or shadow; not metal discoloration.)
