A beautiful antique transfer ware chocolate pot. What is really nice about the motif of roses, is that this can blend in with different rose pattern cups and saucers. Is unmarked and 9" tall to finial.
If beginning to collect, some collectors choose to refine their choices, so collection has a cohesive look, some choose pedestal style teacups and saucers, some certain makers, some hand painted only, some with unusual artwork, some collect Art Deco or Art Nouveau styled sets. Some collect violets only or roses only. This choclate pot is for example transfer ware, not hand painted. Transfer ware is the term given to porcelain, that has had a pattern applied by transferring the print from a copper plate to paper and then to the pottery. Hand painted means an artist personally hand painted the design and sometimes even signed it. Some people love collecting only signed pieces. It does make the hunt challenging and is part of the fun of collecting vintage!
Love the fancy handle and finial on top. When pouring from, put two fingers on top of lid to keep it from falling off when pouring! Use your left hand to hold under chocolate pot, to hold good the weight, so it doesn't put strain on the handle, when pouring. I heat my cocoa in a pan, then pour into chocolate pot, so pan holds most the heat, not the chocolate pot, so shouldn't be too hot. Enjoy and I have teacups in the shop, if you are looking for some.
