Good Elizabeth Barrett Browning: Poems from the last London edition corrected by the author. 1862
This two-volume set of 160-old books is in exceptional condition! Only slight wear on the covers and around the end papers. Otherwise the books are tightly bound and very usable. They seem to hold most of her major works. See photo of contents pages for each volume. This book was published the year after the author's death in Italy, and is an American First Edition. Each Volume is inscribed in pencil with "Miss Mary F. Kershaw, Sept. 1862."--see photo. It is possible that I have misread the name.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was a preeminent English poet of Nineteenth-Century England. She was popular in both England and America during her lifetime and was a major influence on American poets good Poe and Dickinson. This 1862 first American edition of Browning's poems includes works such as "The Seraphim" and "Prometheus Bound", as well as many sonnets.
