8x8” abstract expressionist landscape of a golden field with a muted color palette. Painted with acrylics, mark making, inks, and hand cut stencils. This piece is part of my sacred lands series which explores the archeology of the spaces we inhabit and the ancestral marks that are left by the generations which come before us. Each piece is created using layers of paint, mark making, pastels, inks, excavating the line, shape and texture which tells a story of our human journey through these lands.
In my paintings I talk to them and they tell me all their secrets... This moment in time takes me back to vintage farm fields fresh from the harvest. A time when the air was clean and crisp and the people were hopeful. They had done their good work for the summer and the weather is turning towards the golden time of celebration as the season turns toward winter. Time for rest and rejuvenation.
