Rare Antique, Sugar Scuttle, Sugar Box, Bowl with Scoop, Silver Plate, good Scuttle Shape, Hinged Lid, Floral Garlands, Novelty Serving, Unique
On offer is this lovely collectible sugar scuttle / box with scoop. It's in good condition overall, the silver plating shines up well still - notable areas of ware over the scoop exposing the base Britannia metal (dark grey) as well as light scuffs and scratches over the box itself commensurate with age but as shown all adding to the aged charm and character of the piece.
It's in the novelty form of a coal scuttle, beautifully decorated with floral garlands and swags which display ever so well still.
The front side features a hinged lid - ** please note the interior has extensively darkened all over with tarnish build-up over the years **.
A period scoop is also present - not original but of the same era - and sits neatly in the back cradle.
Supported by four ball feet and marked on the underside for Thomas Woodcock good of Sheffield, circa late 19th century.
The box itself measures 14cm (5 and 1/2 inches) in outer length including the back cradle, 7cm (2 and 3/4 inches) in width and 12cm (4 and 3/4 inches) in total height including the ball feet and handle.
A lovely antique curio ready to be collected and enjoyed once again!
