1970's
Black and White novelty check tweed, very unusual. Solid Black windowpane with Black & White diamond infill. All wool, no retailer or manufacturer labels. Black and Grey, marbleized buttons.
Sadly, there is a large moth hole on back of lapel (see last image). It corresponds to the pattern, so not easy to spot at a glance. Can be flawlessly repaired by a profession re-weaver.
Wide 4 1/4" notched lapel. Reinforced shoulder. Two (2) button fastening on a darted front. Invisible edge stitch construction. Jetted hip pockets with big 3" flaps. Two (2) buttons per cuff. Single center tail vent, 12" long. Half lined in Black bemberg including the sleeves. Interior pockets, one on each side of chest, one with Amalgamated Union tag (1963 - 76).
Approx. measurements:
21.5" Chest, underarm to underarm
18.0" Shoulder to shoulder.
24.5" Sleeve, shoulder to cuff
29.5" Back, collar bottom to hem
Excellent condition, other than the moth damage. In addition to the hole in lapel, there are a pair of moth nibbles to lower back, resulting in a couple tiny holes...These are really hard to spot unless you hold jacket up to a light source.
