At his death (1850) he left his publishing business to his two stepsons. The house was then know as Milner and Sowerby. good So date book between 1836-1850. The book is in good condition. The cover is bright with minimal wear to spine & gilt page edges! Front endpage is damaged. Next 2 pages have discoloration from ink transfer of illustration on title page. Some pages show smudging. James Hervey (1714 – 1758) was an English clergyman and writer. His style is often bombastic, but he displays a rare appreciation of natural beauty, and his piety made him many friends. His earliest work was Meditations and Contemplations. Hervey forth some adverse criticism even from Calvinists, on account of tendencies which were considered to lead to antinomianism (view which objects laws and legalism).
