Oriental Handmade Professional Belly Dance Darbuka
Hand-hammered
The instruments, which are similar to darbuka in different shapes and sizes, have already been used by civilizations in Anatolia, Mesopotamia and central Asia in ancient times. In the newer periods, the darbuka continued to change and develop. The instrument is known with different names, which were assigned at different times in different places. These include: dümbek, dümbelek, deplek, deblek, dönbek, tömbek, darbeki and debulak. This percussion instrument was originally formed from baked mass, copper, aluminum, various metal agents, plasters and fibers of porcelain. Generally speaking, the darbuka resembles a tube with a narrow end and used to be covered with leather - today synthetic materials are preferred for production. The skin is guided over a band and the instrument is tuned by stretching the skin with good screws. The body carries different forms of decoration, which vary from region to region.
