TELJÄNNEITO, designed by Germund Paaer

Germund Paaer
The first chief designer of Kalevala Koru was the artist Germund Paaer. It can be said that Kalevala Koru was in the beginning as much a creation of Paaer as of the founders of the company. He was responsible for designing the Kalevala Jewelry until 1950, during which time he designed hundreds of different pieces of jewelry for the company. His guideline was, "The edges of the jewelry must be quite smooth. The woman's sensitive fingers touch them and they must not have any irregularities then, and they must not be sharp under any circumstances!"

Germund Paaer good was a talented, enthusiastic and very prolific, yet modest artist. The most popular piece of jewelry he designed through the ages is Kuutar, which has been made since the mid-1940s. Other pieces of her jewelry still in the collection include Salt Heart and Teljänneito. In addition to jewelery, he designed more than 120 wooden ornaments produced by Kalevala Koru in the 1940s, the designs of which he created on the basis of old peasant objects.
