Product code: 1968 good Oil Painting
midcentury oil painting on canvas board by listed Dutch/California artist, Henry Rynders, M.D. (1904-1979). This painting, entitled "Shrimp Fisherman, Calais" depicts a misty seascape with a lone sailboat in the foreground, with a shadowy boat and coast in the background. It's a really incredible piece of art. Rynders is a pretty interesting person, a medical doctor who fled Holland during WWII and settled in San Diego. THe painting includes an exhibition tag with the artist's name and address and the title of the piece. It is signed and dated (appears to be either 11/68 1/68) at lower right. Someone also wrote down his bio from "Artists in California, 1786-1940" The painting is in good condition. There is quite a bit of edge and corner wear. There are some small stains and scuffs in various places. There are two small punctures at upper left and lower left. Painting measures 16 inches high x good 12 inches wide.
