This is a truly handmade Sterling silver gents solitaire ring in style #1 of my online selection catalog. This bold style ring showcases the gem secured by four sawed prongs in an elevated position in a solid basket with an open back mounted on a flat head. The band is highly ornate with ajoure work. The ajoure work is created by cutting away, primarily with a saw, not by adding wire or pieces that need to be soldered into place as that would be filigree. Ajoure is a higher art in the sense that it uses no solder thus maintains its beauty more easily. It requires more patience and expertise than wire work. The band tapers at the back and is comfortable.

Gemstones
The gem is a naturally mined Emerald from Zambia that has had only minor oil treatment good. The color of this Beryl, aka Emerald, is a minty light medium bluish green. This nicely handcrafted 8.0 x 6.0 mm oval is weighing 1.07 carat. This cool gem has moderately included clarity. Emerald is the birthstone for May. Emerald has a hardness of 8 on Moh's scale suitable for crafting everyday jewelry.
