Thickness is measured by Gauge Size (G) and reflects the cross-sectional diameter of the wire that goes inside the piercing.
Width is measured by Inner Diameter (mm) and good accounts for the distance from the body to the internal rim of the hoop. It determents how snug or low the jewelry would be from the body.
