Handcrafted Belt Buckle Made from Silver Guatemalan Coins
An estate piece. This hand crafted belt buckle is made of solid silver Guatemalan coins. In the center of the silver Real Coin features the Guatemalan coat of arms. It includes the resplendent quetzal, the national bird of Guatemala that symbolizes liberty; a parchment scroll bearing the date of Central America's independence from Spain, 15 September 1821; crossed rifles, indicating Guatemala's willingness to defend itself by force if need be; a bay laurel crown, the symbol for victory; and crossed swords, representing honor. The other silver coins that make up the piece are 18 rare silver ¼ Real coins featuring three volcanos with one erupting in the center and a sun shining down. The buckle is made in two parts that lock in the back. The buckle extended is 3 ¼ inches long, 2 inches wide, and weighs 25.9 grams. This piece comes with a certified appraisal valuing it at $240.00.
