Art Deco WMF Silver-plate good Cocktail Shaker, Inscribed to Cpt. John Lowery from 23rd Tactical Fighter Squadron, Pristine, Gift for Him/Couple
WMF, short for German silversmith Wurrt Metallw Fabrik, created these fabulous "bullet" 2-piece cocktail shakers from 1920-1930, based upon the maker's mark on the bottom. Sometimes referred to as a French cocktail shaker, this is silverplate at its finest, made with 16.5 grams of fine silver over nickel base metal; this is without any dents or silver loss. This was given to Capt. John Lowery in gratitude from his officers for his leadership of the 23rd Tactical Fighter's Squadron; he was well decorated both as a military man and as an author of military good history. In addition to the inscription, a squadron shield is affixed to the top. This 9.25" tall shaker, with the bullet-shaped lid, should hold enough for 2-3 cocktails; since a strainer was not part of the shaker, I will include one as a gift. Whether it's the Art Deco design of this beauty or the military design attributes that attract you, I can't imagine a more perfect gift. You know you want this...
