A lovely vintage pottery figurine of Bacchus & Ariadne.
Primitive and charming and dating from the early C20th in the style of Staffordshire figurines, this good depicts Bacchus and Ariadne.
The myth of Bacchus and Ariadne begins with the Greek hero Theseus. The Athenian hero Theseus, snuck onto the island of Crete in order to slay the vicious Minotaur. While Ariadne rests, the god of wine, Bacchus, comes upon her and instantly falls in love. Ariadne eventually becomes his immortal wife.
In good vintage condition, with no chips or cracks, but some age related crazing and discolouration. No maker's mark.
