Vintage 4-Piece Ivory Lamberton Scammell Rutland Pattern Restaurant good Ware Chalfonte Haddon Hall Floral Dinner Plates Made For John Wanamaker

This is a very nice vintage 4-piece set of Ivory Lamberton Scammell good Restaurant Ware dinner luncheon plates in the Rutland pattern made for The Chalfonte Haddon Hall Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey and distributed by John Wanamaker. The original Chalfonte Hotel was built in 1868 in Atlantic City for a cost of $21,000 with accommodations for 140 guests. In 1929, The Leeds And Lippincott Company acquired the hotel and the nearby Haddon Hall and merged the two buildings to form the Chalfonte Haddon Hall Hotel. In 1978, the hotel was saved from destruction and purchased by Resorts International to become the first casino to open on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The ivory rimmed dinner plates feature a wide orange speckled decorative border around the rim with scrolled black lines which flow around colorful flower bouquets in shades of red, blue, green and yellow. The plates are stamped on the bottom with the Lamberton Scammell mark and " Chalfonte Haddon Hall, Made In America Expressly For John Wanamaker, Patent No. 89860". They measure approximately 9" in diameter and are in fair to good vintage condition with no chips or cracks, with surface wear including heavy utensil wear, staining, black flecks, wear on the bottom rims and one plate with a large area of roughness and scratches in the center.
