good Presented for your consideration is this unusually large and substantial, appealing hand carved folk art figurine of an elderly bearded man with a walking stick in his hand. This beautifully done piece has a nice tactile feel in the hand, and is damage-free, structurally sound, and is in great vintage condition. His face is wonderfully expressive, and he looks like someone's kind grandfather. Although it is stamped “Made in Canada”, it is very Eastern European in style and feeling, possibly depicting someone from Poland, Russia, or Ukraine. It is signed by the artist. It is beautifully carved and is finely detailed, from the wrinkles around his eyes down to the laces on his boots. The wood is a deep rich golden color, and has a nice patina and grain to it. This would be an unusual conversation piece in any room, and a unique and impressive gift as well.
