Product code: Georgian Period Mourning Brooch with good Black Enamel on Gold With Hair
A mourning brooch from the early 19 century. It has braided hair under cut crystal or rock crystal surrounded by concentric rectangles of gold and enamel. The piece is in beautiful condition for display, however the stick pin has broken off at some point in the piece's nearly 200 year history. This could be repaired easily and inexpensively as the pin is usually a base metal like brass. The original stick pin hinge surround and lock pin are still intact. The gold has not good been tested but is likely 9k. The piece measures 1 1/4 inches wide by 1 inch tall.
This is a very organized, almost architectural, example of a mourning brooch. And, the size is slightly larger than many.
