Hand Carved Wood Folk Art
Eastern European Man

There is no denying that this is a very interesting folk art piece.
The sculpture appears to be an Eastern European man's face. This unique carving has been made entirely by hand with a chisel and wood knives. Please note the detailed textures carved into the wood. I believe the wood used to create this piece is pine or possibly spruce. The aged wood ( patina) gives this folk art unusual character.
The good sculpture is light ( in terms of weight) and would easily hang on a wall with a small nail.
The carving's interesting dimensions allows it to be presented in an area that would otherwise been difficult to decorate.
This piece was acquired from an old and remote homestead in Northern Ontario
I wish I could tell you more about the sculpture's history and artist.
I do know that the cabin's occupants were from Eastern European decent.
