"Named to honor French paleontologist from Lyons, Eugene Dumortier. Dumortierite is somewhat uncommon, but has many localities including in France, Poland, the Czech Republic, the United States, Canada, Namibia, Madagascar, India, and additional minor localities. It occurs in aluminum-rich metamorphic rocks as disseminations and in veinlets cutting through schists, and in pegmatitic veins. Minerals associated with dumotierite include quartz, cordierite, kyanite, andalusite, sillimanite, muscovite, and rutile." - http://www.dakotamatrix.com/mineralpedia/5888/dumortierite
