Ecclesiastes 9:10

A fine art reproduction of an original 40x60 pen and ink brush drawing on mixed media paper. This reproduction is professionally printed on fine art watercolor paper. Why did I choose this type of paper? Watercolor paper is usually thick and the medium texture of this particular paper adds a nice touch to closer reflect the qualities of the original. Each reproduction will be signed, dated (according to month and year it was printed), and titled. This is an open edition reproduction. I would recommend getting this custom framed but if you're trying to save money, you can easily buy a mat and frame from your local frame store (I usually go to Michael's and use their on-going coupons). I would HIGHLY recommend bringing the reproduction with you when shopping, that way you won't be disappointed when you get home and realize, "hey that's not the right size!"

- Paper Size: 11"x 17" Image Size: ¼” border around edges (total image a bit smaller than 11x17)
- Fine art watercolor paper
- Signed, Dated (according to print date), and Titled

What inspired the original artwork?

I had bought a handful of Mixed Media paper rolls and I didn't know what exactly I was going to do with them. I wanted to do something big but the only large surfaces I had that would back the paper were only so big, much smaller than the rolls of paper. I thought, why should I limit myself to the size of the surface that supports the paper? With the help of my dad, I went out to buy a large thick Masonite board, the size of a dining room table! My dad helped me fix two long planks to the back for extra support. We could just barely fit it through the doors and into my room. I was happy. I unrolled a large sheet of paper onto my new large surface and started drawing. So I use this app called Sktchy and about 90 percent of the portraits on this piece are from the artists and models who post their photos on there for people to sketch. I used a Pentel Ink brush, Faber Castell pen and fingers for smudging. At first, I started sketching random portraits and it turned into a larger project than I expected. About halfway through, I decided it was a piece I wanted to make for The Matt Garcia Foundation. So I added the faces of the board members and good most of the volunteers who've dedicated so much of themselves. They are a non-profit in Fairfield, CA that does amazing things for the community, in particular the youth. Matt was “one of the youngest elected officials in the nation” but what was most unforgettable was that I never saw him without a smile. His dream, to empower youth, stop crime, and ultimately make the environment a better place continues to live on. This piece was a gift to the foundation with hopes to reach out to the youth or anyone for that matter with the message being “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.” -Ecclesiastes 9:10. With God, anything is possible.
