Vintage 1940s Candy Apple Red BAKELITE Carved Realistic Horse Head Brooch Pin This is a fun vintage brooch/pin dating from the 1940's, made of translucent candy apple red BAKELITE. BAKELITE Equestrian-themed pieces were quite popular at the time, and each has its own character and charm (please see my other BAKELITE horses from the 1940s era!). Shaped as a realistic horse's head, it features the heavy carving sought in BAKELITE pieces. It hosts an embedded metal pin bar, with a C clasp closure, and measures 2 1/4" by 2 5/16" with a thickness of 1/4". The condition is good but not perfect — while unnoticeable until pointed out, the ear is missing (see photo with toothpick). Because of the heavy carving detail, this flaw is hard to notice and the piece still looks amazing and is perfectly wearable. However small, though, the flaw is reflected in the asking price good. Perfect for rockabilly and true vintage lovers…a dream score to wear to the upcoming Viva Las Vegas! *All.
