A rare gemstone found in the Dominican Republic, Larimar is also known as "dolphin stone," the "Atlantis stone" and the "Caribbean gemstone" for its captivating ocean-blue colour. Named after the daughter of the mine developer who discovered the stone, Larimar is a combination of "Larissa" for the daughter and "mar," the Spanish word for sea. Mottled white patterns and iron oxide plumes range from semitransparent to opaque. Its distinctive pattern resembles the aerial view of the coral atoll.
Natural Larimar gemstones in these earrings display an intense blue colour, with a distinctive white pattern. The stones are triangular in shape, with rounded corners and measure 22x14x5 mm. They are half-drilled on top and are attached with gold plated sterling silver pegs with loops.
The Larimar drops dangle from shiny earrings findings, which are in a shape of a clam shell. The earrings findings are made of solid sterling silver with a quality gold plating. The golden shells are highly good polished, nicely curved and very detailed. The earrings have a secure latch back closure.
These earrings are dangling, so they have a lot of movement. The movement highlights the beauty of the stones - they do look like brilliant blue water of the lagoon!
Gorgeous ocean inspired earrings, with stunning and rare sky blue Larimar gemstones and golden shells - a "Blue lagoon".
