This is a gorgeous Shopping Tote, made using the 'Selvedge' edge of the fabric, which is usually discarded.

I love the selvedge edge because it contains the colour key and other information about the fabric, and it often has a fringed edge.

I, personally, find the selvedge edge to be very beautiful and I simply cannot discard it.


In this bag you will find a mixture of fabrics, mostly cottons and some synthetics.

The theme is Chickens, Horses, and other Farm Animals, with complimentary prints, plains and fancy machine stitching.

The bag is lined with a dark brown cotton/synthetic fabric, and then trimmed with a lovely matching braid.

The bag contains an inner pocket for those little items that tend to get lost in the bottom of the bag.

I have attached a Tassel to the bag, made out of the offcuts from shaping the bottom of the bag, and with glass beads.

I have made a 2nd Tassel, also with glass beads and a gold metal bell, which has a keyring for your keys.

The handles have been reinforced by triple stitching over them on the top and bottom row of stitches and also inside the bag. So, this means the bag will be able to carry a good amount of weight without the handles coming off.


The bag is a generous size and will certainly carry anything you need.

Measurements are :

Laying flat the bag is 50 cms x 35.5 cms.

The handles are 4.5 cms wide and 86 cms long which means the bag will hang easily off the shoulder.
