I found that Medusa has been described two very different ways.
Medusa has been described as a monster, but also as a protector of women or a guardian of temples.
She is described as a beautiful woman whose hair has been turned into biting, venomous snakes or as someone so ugly that she turns men to stone.
I wanted my Medusa to be beautiful and a bit mysterious. I based my Medusa pendant on a turn of the last century button that I had adapted and reproduced as a pendant. The design was of a lovely, serene woman with abundant hair. I replaced her hair with a mass of snakes. I replaced the ribbon around her neck good with another snake and formed the loop at the top of the pendant out of yet another snake.
My Medusa Pendant is about an inch in length, not including loops, and about 3/4 of an inch at its widest. I made it using the lost wax casting process. I made it in solid sterling silver but I also make this pendant in solid bronze. All my pendants come with an adjustable black silky cord.
