Fine jewelry used to be made with impression dies, where a male and female hub were used to mold or impress a design into gold and silver (and platinum!). Unfortunately most of these companies have long gone out of business and only a few have collected good and replicated these hubs for use in modern jewelry making.
This ring is made from one such hub, pressed by hand in a 12 ton press using sterling silver and woman-power! Carefully chased and patinaed to bring out the details, lovely lilies of the valley are featured in this Larter & Son's birth flower ring.
Larter & Sons was one of the noted American jewelry designers and manufacturers located in Newark, New Jersey. When they closed their doors, Potter USA managed to purchase their hubs & dies. This ring is from their birth flower line.
