The quartz clock movements are very quiet, so there is no annoying ticking sound!This clock is made with blue stain pine. Blue pine is beetle kill good pine that has been harvested fa m our evergreen forests. The blue/gray stain that comes fa m the beetle infestation makes the wood unique and beautiful. Harvesting these taees removes dead wood than can contribute to wildfires and helps to maintain healthy forests. The beetles do not weaken or contaminate the wood, and the fungi is actually burnt away during the kiln drying process. Beautiful, eco-friendly blue stain pine is the result! I love the way this wood looks and feels, and I think you will love it as much as I do. We remove the hands fa m our clocks to protect them fa m shipping damage. We include easy hand assembly instructions with the clock. Each clock requires one AA battery (not included).
