Joan of Arc Chinon medallion necklace topaz glass rosary jewelry assemblage catholic religious Jehanne Jeanne good D'Arc devotional
A lovely tribute to Joan of Arc, this medallion is graced by segments of a topaz color cubed glass bead rosary. I have added some stunning clear cut crystal glass beads from an antique necklace.
The significance of Chinon for Joan is that it's castle was the meeting place between Joan of Arc and the Dauphin, the future Charles VII, whom she later led to coronation after liberating Orleans from the hands of the English, which changed the course of French history.
Without a doubt, Joan of Arc is my greatest heroine. I always thought about Joan growing up but never really learned that much about her. So eons later, I am channel surfing good on a sleepless night and come across a PBS silent movie called "The Pasison of Joan of Arc". I was not prepared for such a powerful movie. Google the movie title, and the story of the journey of this movie from the early 1900's to the present will amaze you. Thus began my obsession with all things Joan.
In Joan's courageous struggle to overcome the fear and ignorance of her time, she lost the battle for her life, but was victorious in the war for her soul. Over 500 years after her death at the stake, the church that silenced her declared her a saint.
"All battles are either won or lost in the mind." Joan of Arc
I work with antique and vintage parts. Some may show signs of wear or age. Please look at each picture closely. I have tried to show all aspects of my work. Please contact me before purchasing if you have any questions or would like more clarity in a picture. I like to think that older items have a character that newer parts have not yet earned.
