The word gimmel comes from the Italian phrase "anima gemella" meaning soulmate, and fede comes from the word for faithful, "fedele". Fede gimmel rings are named this way for what they represent, but also how they're made. Gimmel rings are singular bands made up of two interlocking thinner bands. The rings were separated, traditionally, with each of the betrothed wearing one good half until they were wed, when the ring would then be given to the bride alone to wear conjoined.
This ring is 6 3/4 and would be difficult to resize due to its structure. It weighs just under 5g.
