Written in 1906, this is a fantasy story about two children meeting an ancient fairy with a gift for storytelling. The fairy was named Puck. This book has short stories and poem of England history from the Norman conquest to the signing of the Magna Carta.

This is the American edition published in October 1906 by Doubleday, Page & Company. It may be a first edition. The book front and back covers are dark green fabric. The embossed gold gilt letters and boat are beautiful. The spine edges are lightly worn. There is gilt edge on top of the pages and side and bottom pages are deckle edge. The front and back end-pages have foxing. There is an inscription on the front-end page.

The book pages are clean with aged discoloration. There are a few deckles edge bending. Arthur Rackham is the illustrator. There are 1 frontispiece (with tissue) and 3 illustrations. This book is in excellent condition.

The name of the ancient fairy is based on Shakespeare's Mid Summer Night Dream. This book has been wiped.
