Dendritic agate is a translucent, colourless to whitish-grey variety of chalcedony quartz, easily distinguished by its distinct tree- or fern-like markings known as 'dendrites', which are most often brown to black in colour. It is considered to be one of the rarer and more sought-after varieties of agate stone.
Some specimens have more colourful and opaque appearance, with dendritic inclusions that resemble landscapes. These stones are rare and highly sought-after, especially by gemstone collectors.

This necklace features a large and rare dendritic manganese agate cabochon. It is a semi-translucent to opaque stone, which could be categorised as a rare "landscape agate". The gemstone is highly domed, well polished and measures 52mm x 32mm x 9mm (2.0x1.2 inches). It displays a beautiful lustre and a striking colour palette- muted greys, white, light violet with some golden brown and black "dendrite" inclusions.
It has an incredible depth - when you look at it, you can see different kinds of landscapes: peaks of mountings in a violet sky, or perhaps, continents and oceans of an unknown planet ... It is a truly fascinating gemstone. I will leave it to your imagination :).

The agate cabochon has a teardrop shape and is set into a white gold plated sterling silver mounting with a wavy "prongs" design. The silver waves are "hugging" the stone and are in harmony with its colours. The quality white gold plating acts as an anti-tarnish coating.

To highlight the beauty of this large pendant I chose beautiful grey moonstone rondelle beads (8x6mm). The moonstone beads are hand-cut and faceted. They have a special coating which adds a bit of sparkle and lustre to the stones. Grey moonstone, with its occasional blueish tint, was once believed by the ancient Romans to be formed from moon rays.
To lighten up this necklace I added round sterling silver beads, which are gathered in a graduated pattern. The combination of moonstone and silver beads creates a look of a voluptuous silvery grey gemstone chain.
The necklace is gathered on a professional 49 strands nylon coated stainless steel wire, which is strong, flexible and kink resistant. It is finished with a wavy sterling silver S-clasp.

This necklace is a celebration of the Grey colour palette - the "Magnificent grey"! It would look stunning when worn with any plain, monochrome clothes of the colours, present in the agate pendant and a moonstone necklace - white, black, grey, tan or violet.

Please note: the sterling silver beads and a clasp may tarnish with time and the elements. I will provide the best quality silver polishing cloth, which will last for a long time, to keep your silver bright and shiny.
