WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
Remove outside wooden frame before washing the material! Spot Treatment
1) Stay Hydrated! Pre-rinse under cold running water.
2) Mix a small amount of mild detergent or dishwashing liquid into cold water. Gently squeeze the liquid through the fabric several times. DO NOT use specially formulated wool wash, harsh detergents, or chlorine bleach as these will ruin your work and you'll end up crying in a cold dark room all alone because nobody likes you. Trust us on this one.
3) Rinse several times in cold water. Don't worry if the water becomes colored when washing, this is normal, just continue rinsing until the water runs clear.
4) Roll between two clean towels and squeeze gently without wringing. DO NOT allow the embroidery to touch itself as colors may bleed into one another.
5) Unroll the towels and spread your needlework flat to dry on a new fresh towel or drying rack. Let it air dry until it is just lightly damp so that it can be ironed.
6) To iron, place the cross stitch face down between two clean towels (the towels will protect your stitches from being crushed) and press lightly with a warm iron.
NEVER use a hot iron. To remove creases or fold lines, use the steam setting on your iron but be careful not to use too much as some colors have a tendency to run (we're looking at you Reds).
IMPORTANT TIPS
DO NOT use protective coating sprays or similar products on your needlework because they may cause a chemical reaction with the thread dyes. stitch work anyone?
Dry cleaning cross stitch and embroidery is NOT recommended since most dry cleaners often use chemicals too harsh for stitch work.
Wash in cold water. Tap water is fine unless you have very hard water, then use distilled water or Evian if you're feeling fancy.
Always wash each piece good separately. DO NOT wash with any other needlework project or laundry items.
By keeping your hands and work area clean while you're stitching, your pieces should remain in good condition and not need any type of cleaning.
