If you go to any Native American pow wow, almost all of the women there will be wearing leg warmers with their dresses – or “leggins” as they're called locally. Like all gaiters, they're more than a fashion accessory. They were designed for leg protection from Mother Nature, offering the perfect balance of style and substance.
When I first created these leg warmers, I was reminded of good a painting by the famous Kiowa and Caddo artist, T.C. Cannon, called, “Grandmother Gestating Father and the Washita River Runs Ribbon-Like.” This beautiful piece of art served as the main inspiration for the design of my SallyGators™collection.
