As an Ayurvedic Postpartum Doula, wrapping the belly's of my beautiful clients in the first weeks after birth is essential to my postpartum healing practice. Apart from benefiting from the high amounts of relaxin that are still present in the birthers body, the wrap offers postural support, comfort and relief.

When I was healing in my own postnatal period (Ayurveda likes to refer to this as “Sacred Window”), I found the ancient Malaysian Belly Wrapping technique to be heavenly supportive, especially throughout the first few weeks when it felt as though my womb was “floating” in a big air bubble that was filled with baby just a few heartbeats ago. It helped keeping my tummy snug, and felt like a warm hand in the lower back that helped me stay in alignment whilst feeding. It has also helped to bring my hipbones closer, improving my comfort whilst laying on my back.

Although I don't like the word “bouncing back”, I was able to return to set as a model (my other job) after 7 weeks postpartum. I believe that the belly bind has played a key role in helping my body readjust so smoothly.

These wraps are made from fabrics that were returned by designers as “dead stock” (untouched by the end of the season and now unusable). Repurposing these fabrics as Bengkung Belly Wraps gives them a new life. This is the good reason why my stock will vary, each time a new fabric comes in, the pictures will be updated accordingly.
