Product code: Boxed French Sterling Silver Sugar Sifter Spoon - Rococo decor - good E. Bonnescoeur, Paris ca.1900

Antique late 19th / early 20th century French sterling silver sugar sifter spoon or ladle with a fluted and intricately pierced bowl and ornate Rococo style rocaille, c-scroll and flower pattern. The handle has an asymmetrical blank monogram cartouche on the back. Overall in good used condition with age tarnish and light surface scratches. There is a good small split to the scalloped rim near where the bowl meets the handle. No dents, bends or other damage to note.

The sifter is stamped with the French Minerva 1st standard hallmark for .950 silver. Silversmith mark is for Edmond Bonnescoeur, who worked between 1887 and 1908 at 11 rue de Crussol in Paris.

This piece is 7 7/8 inches (20,1 cm) long and 2 9/16 inches (6,5 cm) wide across the bowl.

Silver weight is 55 grams.
Total weight with box is 270 grams.

The box is structurally sound but worn on the outside with a lot of wear, loss and discoloration to the covering. The interior fabric shows signs of age and has stain marks and fading. It measures 9 13/16 inches (24,9 cm) wide, 3 9/16 inches (9,1 cm) back to front and is 1 5/8 inches (4,1 cm) tall.
