This unique blue green exotic salmon leather pendant is inspired by tales of mermaids in Irish folklore who according to legend would emerge from the sea at dusk shedding their tail skin allowing them to frolic in the sand in the moon light. Before daybreak they would return to the sea where they would once again assume their mermaid form.
These cast mermaid skins are extremely hard to find so I have used real salmon leather to imitate the beautiful shimmer of the mermaid's tail. The front of the leather is an incredible metallic blue green with very distinctive scales whilst the back looks like beautiful turquoise blue suede.
This eco friendly leather is a natural by-product of the fishing industry, repurposing something which would otherwise be discarded.
The leather is encased in 38mm round glass cabochons and hangs from a 17 inch rubber choker with a sterling silver bayonet clasp. The pendant is attached to the choker with a hall marked sterling silver charm carrier. The glass is domed on the front and flat on the back so it will sit perfectly just below the collar bone.
You may recognise the beautiful actress in the photograph. It is the very lovely Rena Owen who plays Helen Hawkins in the Freeform TV series Siren. Watch carefully and you will see Rena wearing this pendant in the show!
