I made these plates good on the potter's wheel in my Kansas studio. I applied black slip to the edges and made a white leaf design on the black background. After the first firing I glazed in assorted bright shiny colors and fired a second time to around 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. I applied mother of pearl luster to the design on the edges of each plate and fired a third time.
