This large hardcover volume with over 650 pages (the pages are numbered up to 333, which constitute half the year then begin again with new pages numbering 317 or so to complete the year) is chock full of romantic era lithographs, hand colored fashion plates showing full crinoline dresses, tons of embroidery and lace patterns, poetry (including a little number called 'Fifty, faded and fat'!), stories and pelerine examples, a beaded shoe pattern for beads and Berlin wool, the care of children, how to make a 'lamp fairy', hints for housekeeping, religious thoughts, needlework patterns, reticule designs, and much much more. The pages good are somewhat age-brittle and the cover is worn but fully intact. This collection is unparalleled for anyone interested in what women did in crafts and home pursuits and what they read in the mid-1800s!
