Vintage Rainbow Art Glass ~ Decanter with Stopper ~ RARE ~ MCM ~ 1954-1973
This decanter, with matching stopper, is an incredibly beautiful shade of rich, deep teal. This decanter was a little challenging to ID but consensus from a number of Rainbow collectors is that it is a Rainbow piece. The finish of the stopper base, the shape of the neck and the flare at the top, the teal colour, and the shape of the base where it sits on the surface below are all good indicators. Another collector also has a base (no stopper) with an original Rainbow sticker. If you ever wanted a show off piece of Rainbow - this is it.
The bottle itself measures approx. 8" high. The with stopper is approx. 3" tip to tip and 2" wide. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or stains. Please examine the photos closely as they are part of the listing description.
Rainbow Art Glass Company operated independently from 1942-1973 and then as the Rainbow-Viking Glass Company from 1973-1983. Rainbow began blowing it's own designs from 1954 onward. The factory burned in 1983. Many Rainbow items can be found with Viking stickers showing that the Rainbow items were popular enough to continue making for many years.
